A practical starting point for the garage
Garage slabs can have rough areas, old paint or coatings that need attention before a new finish. We provide grinding for smaller garage, shed and workshop floors across Melbourne metro.
What happens after grinding?
Tell us if the floor will be coated by another contractor, sealed, or left ready for later work. A coating installer may require a specific surface profile or preparation sequence.
Oil, damage and existing coatings
Send photos of stains, damaged edges, cracks and any coating already on the slab. Grinding is not a blanket guarantee that all contamination will be removed or that the slab will suit every coating.
Grinding before a garage coating
If another contractor is applying epoxy or another coating, send their preparation specification with the enquiry. Show any oil marks, old paint and patches in the photos. The coating contractor needs to confirm that the prepared slab suits their system.
Measure the floor itself rather than quoting “single” or “double” garage. Include the doorway, edges and any fixed benches or shelving that limit access. See what affects the grinding quote.
Common questions
Can you grind a single garage?
Yes, small garage jobs are welcome. Send the approximate floor area, photos and the next finish you want.
Does grinding include epoxy application?
A grinding quote and a coating quote cover different work. Tell us who is applying the next finish so the preparation and handover requirements can be agreed.
