Melbourne Concrete Grinding

Concrete floor preparation in Melbourne

Floor preparation grinding in Melbourne before vinyl, timber, hybrid, tiles and epoxy. High-spot grinding and residue removal for flooring contractors.

Prep for flooring contractors

We handle the concrete grinding part of floor preparation, including high spots, ridges and surface residue. Tell us which floor or coating is going down so the grinding scope can be matched to the next trade’s requirements.

Grinding or levelling compound?

Grinding removes high spots; levelling compound fills low areas. A floor may need both. We do not treat a grinding job as a promise that the entire slab will be level or meet a particular product tolerance without assessment.

Preparing for the next flooring system

Vinyl, hybrid or timber
Send the installer’s flatness requirement, product details and any marked high areas. Removal of old glue and treatment of low areas should be included in the overall prep plan.
Tiles
Include the tile installer’s requirements and finished floor heights at doors and adjoining rooms. Grinding removes material; it cannot build up a low slab.
Epoxy or another coating
Send the coating system’s preparation specification. Surface profile, existing coatings, contamination and moisture suitability are separate things to establish before application.

Agree the trade handover

Before booking, agree which areas need grinding, who handles low spots or repairs, and who checks the slab before installation. Include edges, thresholds and any areas that must remain untouched. For a larger job scope, see grinding for builders and flooring trades.

Common questions

Does grinding fill low spots?

No. Grinding removes material from high areas. Low areas may need a suitable patching or levelling product as a separate part of the preparation plan.

Can you prepare concrete for my flooring installer?

Yes. Send the product or installer’s preparation requirements with photos and the area. We’ll confirm the grinding portion of the job and the handover timing directly.
