Melbourne Concrete Grinding

Polished concrete floors in Melbourne

Mechanical polishing for exposed concrete floors.

A finish made in the concrete

Mechanical polishing uses progressively finer steps to refine the slab’s surface. It differs from grind and seal, which relies on an applied sealer for the finished surface.

The slab sets the starting point

The existing concrete, aggregate, repairs and previous coatings influence the final appearance. Tell us if the slab is new or existing, whether it has been covered and the level of exposure you have in mind.

Compare the options

The right approach depends on the space, desired appearance and budget. We can discuss grinding only, grind and seal and polishing, with the scope and achievable finish confirmed for your floor.

Bring a reference for the finish

A photo of a floor you like helps explain sheen and stone exposure. It is a reference, not a guarantee that a different slab will look the same. Include photos of your own concrete, particularly patches, cracks and areas previously covered by flooring.

If you are comparing quotes, ask whether each is for mechanical polishing or grind and seal, and what exposure and edge work are included. If another floor covering is going down, you may only need floor preparation grinding.

Common questions

Will grinding expose the same amount of stone everywhere?

Not necessarily. Aggregate distribution and slab variations affect exposure. Discuss the achievable appearance before agreeing the finish.

Do you take smaller polishing jobs?

Smaller floors are welcome. Send photos, the approximate area, suburb or town, and the look you want so the options and availability can be discussed.
